Garage Door Maintenance
Back To Our ServicesCare for Rollers
The metal rollers are responsible for guiding the overhead door when it moves up and down. They are moving components so they require lubrication maintenance. Inspection for damage comes first, however. The stems should be checked for twisting and the wheels - for wearing. If there is dirt stuck around the wheels, it is best to use safe and mild solvent and soft bristled brush to remove it. Each roller stem and wheel should be covered with a thin layer of lubricant. Light lubricant in spray form is ideal for the purpose. It is always a good idea to use a product that the door’s manufacturer recommends. Once the job is done, it is essential to open and close the door to ensure that the lubricant is properly spread.
Maintaining Opener Remotes
You use these accessories every single day and they are extremely important for the safety and security of the door. That is why they deserve proper care to stay in good condition. The plastic casing and the buttons require full cleaning for removing all dirt. The plastic casing of the infrared unit should be cleaned with dry cloth. The battery compartment and the contacts need cleaning too. If there is rust, the mildest rust remover should help to eliminate it. There is usually no need for changing the remote batteries at garage door maintenance. The same kind of cleaning routine works equally well for the other controls of the opener and especially for the wireless keypad.
